Tim Stokes-Rees began playing the drums at the age of 9, has played guitar since the age of 14 and has been playing professionally for approximately 20 years.
After starting with a pop cover band in the 80's, he has played in countless groups of different genres including rock, metal/punk, jazz, latin-alternative, hip-hop and dance. He studied jazz at Humber College where he completed his Bachelor of Music through an affiliated program with Thompson Rivers Open University.
He has shared the stage with Cyndi Lauper, The Grandmothers of Invention (former band of Frank Zappa), Teenage Head and has played dozens of festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Beaches Jazz Festival, and the North Country Fair. He has also appeared on the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Awards show that was televised for APTN in 2009. Most recently he has been playing with Dr. Draw, The Johnnys and various working cover bands.
He has been teaching for 18 years and has developed his own teaching style. The objective of his program is to make the learning experience enjoyable for both the casual and the serious student while the aim is to achieve the highest level of proficiency the student is capable of.
