Recitals at The Groove Room Coffee House

The next Groove Room Coffee House is:

Friday, December 14th from 7-8:30 pm
Friday, January 11th from 7-8:30 pm

The Groove Room is a venue where we hold our monthly recitals, where budding or accomplished musicians of all ages are invited to perform in front of a live audience. Students are encouraged to take part, either as a solo recital, or with others, in a group or ensemble.

The vibe is always casual, with genres covering rock, pop, jazz and folk.

We do not charge a recital or performance fee, although, there is a $5.00 admission, which includes a beverage and dessert. All funds raised go toward helping those in need. In the past. Funds have gone to sending needy children to camp over the summer and sponsoring a Syrian refugee family.

St. Augustine of Canterbury Church thought that there was a need in the community for a place for musicians to perform that is safe and friendly. With the help of Kevin McCloskey of the Ontario College of Music we decided to set up The Groove Room coffee house. If you want to perform please contact Kevin at the school.

BANDCRAFT 2017

What is Band Craft?

  • - Rock School and Jam Sessions
  • - Ensemble and Workshop Programs
  • - Group Lessons

Bandcraft is the name for all of our programs outside of private lessons. These programs run year round with additional summer options added. Bandcraft groups students together in small to large ensembles with styles covering rock, funk, blues, jazz, latin and even drum line. The main goal is to learn how to work together and acquire the ability to perform songs or musical ideas as a group. All of our groups are guided by our experienced teachers who have a wealth of performance skills to share. Because the instruction is upbeat and low in pressure, a great deal of fun has been experienced by all of those who have taken part in our Bandcraft programs.

We are also offering workshops of a more technical nature, with focus on theory, technique and vocabulary for guitar, bass, drums and piano during the summer months. Please contact us for further information.
